Jared Urman Establishes Locksmith Business

Jared Urman, a 1999 graduate of Mackinac Island School, has established Access Locksmithing in Petoskey, a mobile, full-service locksmith shop that even offers vehicle ignition keys with computerized security features.

The 24-year-old earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lake Superior State University in August 2004 and was graduated from the Lockmasters Security Institute. He is a certified locksmith through several lock manufacturers. Access Locksmithing serves all of northern Michigan, said Mr. Urman, but his business is concentrated in the Petoskey, Charlevoix, Boyne City areas.

He is one of three children of Vicki and Gary Urman of Mackinac Island. Mrs. Urman is an elementary teacher on the Island and Mr. Urman is the Island’s former superintendent and now the superintendent at Boyne Falls.

Mr. Urman is engaged to Melissa Scibior of Petoskey and the couple plans to marry in September.
