Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Marsh

Elizabeth "Betty" Marsh, 70, of Moran, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Northern Michigan Hospital, following a five-month bout with cancer.

Mrs. Marsh was born on Mackinac Island November 11, 1934, one of eight children of Frank and Rose (nee Cadreau) LaTour.

She married Lloyd Marsh July 14, 1955, on Mackinac Island, and they lived in many places and settled in Moran 15 years ago.

She worked for several motels, including Days Inn and, more recently, Harbour Pointe Motel in St. Ignace. She also worked for Kewadin Shores Casino.

Mrs. Marsh was a member of Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church.

Throughout her life, she was "the glue that held the family together," friends said. She loved to cook and make special dinners for her family. She loved bingo, playing cards, and watching hummingbirds from her kitchen window. She led a hard working life, friends said, and was loved by her family.

Mrs. Marsh is survived by her husband, Lloyd; four sons and their families, Joseph and Connie Marsh of Paradise, Lloyd P. Marsh of Moran, Dan and Lori Marsh of Moran, Randy and Dorri Marsh of St. Ignace, four daughters and their families, Mary and Bobby Buck of Franklin, Louisiana, Rose and Bernard Ferguson of St. Ignace, Janice Marsh of Moran, Alice and Jamie Gallagher of St. Ignace; one brother, Ray LaTour of Kinross; a sister, Doris Lear of Kinross; 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Sunday, March 13, at 3 p.m. at Dodson Funeral Home, with visitation one hour before services. Lay Minister Robert Belonga officiated. The family enjoyed a special fish dinner in her honor.

Cremation followed services. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
