Ontario Pianist To Accomplish Dream of Performing at Grand Hotel May 14 Johnny Mayorov of London, Ontario, will be receiving a unique gift for his 17th birthday May Mr. Mayorov will perform for one hour at the hotel’s parlor, beginning at 1 p.m. Among other selections, he will perform the theme song to the motion picture "Somewhere in Time," a 1979 film produced on the Island. Since he was three years old, piano has been a big part of Mr. Mayorov’s life. At age nine, he placed second at the Kiwanis Music Festival in London, playing Beethoven’s "Moonlight Sonata." He also enjoys performing at shopping malls and conventions. Much of Mr. Mayorov’s musical interest is now in gospel, inspired by gospel works of the late Elvis Presley. Mr. Mayorov has established his own gospel choir in London and opened Mayorov’s Music Academy, where he teaches young children to play piano. Mr. Mayorov plans to attend the University of Ontario to earn a doctorate in music. |
