COMMUNITY CALENDAR

The following is a list of upcoming community events:

Sunday, May 28

• Adult softball pick-up games from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Great Turtle Park. Free to the public, provided by the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

• Galloping Gazelles will meet at the bottom of the staircase to Fort Holmes for a stairs circuit from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Galloping Gazelles is an open running group free to the public, and provided by the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

Monday, May 29

• Mackinac State Historic Parks will host a Memorial Day observance to pay tribute to the soldiers who served at Fort Mackinac. Soldiers will assemble at 8:30 a.m. at the fort and march to Post Cemetery to perform a short ceremony. Free to the public, organized by Mackinac State Historic Parks.

• Mackinac Island American Legion Post 299 will host a Memorial Day service at 11:30 a.m. at the Veterans Park on Mackinac Island. Free to the public, organized by the American

Legion.

• Memorial Day 5K Fun Run/Walk from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the start and the finish at Great Turtle Park; $10 per person, or $20 per family. Those interested may register through the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

• Chair yoga from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Community Hall (use side door); $10 per class, or $80 for 10 classes. Those interested may register through the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

• Ride the 8 and Look Great from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. will meet at Mackinac Outfitter on Main Street to bike the 8.2 miles around the Island with designated stops for additional exercises. Free to the public, provided by the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

• Pilates classes are held every Thursday at 8 a.m. at the Mackinac Island Community Hall; each class costs $10, and participants should bring their own mat or towel. Those interested may register through the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

• Adult beach volleyball pick-up games at Great Turtle Park from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free to the public, provided by the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

Tuesday, May 30

• Pick-up soccer games at Great Turtle Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free to the public, provided by the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

Tuesday May 30, through

Friday, June 2

• The Detroit Regional Chamber Mackinac Policy Conference will be held throughout the week, with activities scattered at sites throughout the Island.

Wednesday, May 31

• Adult softball pick-up games from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Great Turtle Park. Free to the public, provided by the Mackinac Island Recreation Department.

Thursday, June 1
