Chris Modd, Dick Coates Join Tourism Bureau Board

Chris Modd of Lakeview Hotel and Richard Coates of Mackinac Island Bicycle Shop were appointed to Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau’s executive board at the bureau’s October meeting.

An annual election for executive board members was held in September. Ken Neyer and Brian Bailey are the newest members of the board. As part of the bureau’s bylaws, the president of the board appoints two members to the board after the election.

Bureau Executive Director Mary Slevin said Mr. Modd will assist in improving the bureau’s Web site, while Mr. Coates serves on the bureau’s building committee.

President of the bureau is Bob Benser Jr. of Chippewa Hotel Waterfront and Lilac Tree Hotel. He presides over a 17-member board, which governs the bureau’s properties, affairs, finances, and policies for Tourism Bureau membership.
