BORN Sean Burt
Sean Henry Burt was born at 6:34 a.m. September 20, 2004, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey to Liz and Allen Burt of Mackinac Island. He weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 19.5 inches in length at birth. Grandparents are Janet and Richard Burt of Bedford, Indiana, and Cristina and John Staats of Horton Bay. Mary McNair of Petoskey is Sean’s great-grandmother. Mrs. Burt is a 4th through 7th grade mathematics and science teacher at Mackinac Island Public School. Mr. Burt is manager of the Mackinac Island Department of Public Works water filtration plant. The Burts chose the name Sean because, said Mrs. Burt, it is the Irish version of the name “John,” which is the first name of his grandfather, John Staats. Sean’s middle name comes from the first Burt to arrive in America from England. Henry Burt arrived in the New World in 1638.
