Jason St. Onge, Jennie Shanku

Jason St. Onge of Mackinac Island and Jennie Shanku of Dearborn are engaged to be married in October 2005.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Carol and the late George Shanku of Dearborn. She is a 1998 graduate of St. Alphonsus Catholic High School and earned a degree in horticulture and landscaping from Michigan State University in 2002. She is now employed as a garden foreman at Grand Hotel.

The groom-to-be is the son of Deanna and Glen St. Onge of Mackinac Island. He was graduated from Mackinac Island Public School in 1992 and earned a degree in general studies at University of Michigan in 1998. He is the owner of St. Onge Latex and Groove, serves on Mackinac Island City Council and Board of Education, and is a sergeant on the Mackinac Island Fire Department.
