Woodard To Be Deployed to Iraq

Sunshine Woodard, a 1994 graduate of Mackinac Island High School serving with the Michigan National Guard 1073rd Maintenance Company, has received mobilization orders to deploy to Iraq in late December.

The 228-member unit moved to a mobilization station in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, for readiness training November 2. The mission will continue to Ridgeway base camp, 35 miles west of Baghdad, in late December.

Ms. Woodard, the daughter of Peggy and Greg “Woody” Woodard who operate Market Street Inn on the Island, lives in Greenville and is employed by the Michigan Training Unit Correctional Facility in Ionia. She is a 1998 graduate of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids.
