Island Sets City Employees Salaries, Wages For 2005 Fiscal Year

Mackinac Island City Council raised city employee wages and salaries 2.5 percent this year and approved a new three-year contract with its police staff, which includes a 2.5 percent raise.

The following is a list of salaries and wages for city employees and officers for 2005:

Mayor

$250 per month; $35 per meeting per day for each official meeting of the city council attended; $40 per day of attendance at Board of Review session; health insurance.

Alderperson

$35 per meeting per day for each official meeting of the city council attended.

Mayor’s Assistant

$307.69 per week; payroll-related fringe benefits.

City Clerk

$410 per week; $60 per meeting per day for official city council meeting attended and $50 each election registration day attended if outside of normally established business days and hours; $75 each election day; payroll-related fringe benefits; health insurance.

Deputy City Clerk

$8.30 per hour, no more than 40 hours per work week; $36.05 per meeting per day for official meeting of the city council attended when conducted outside of normally established business days and hours; $75 each election day; payroll-related fringe benefits; health insurance.

City Treasurer

$400 per week; payroll-related fringe benefits; health insurance.

Deputy City Treasurer

$8.07 per hour, no more than 40 hours per work week; payroll-related fringe benefits.

Building Officer/City Engineer/ Zoning Administrator

$38.50 per hour; reimbursable expenses; payroll-related fringe benefits; 80 hours paid annual leave.

Planning Commission/Recording Secretary

$56.57 per meeting per day (no less than one meeting paid per month); $95.53 per month (preparation time compensation).

Chief of Police

$54,590 per year; payroll-related fringe benefits; paid vacation, sick and personal leave days; health insurance; annual employer contribution of $2,000 for retirement account; life insurance.

Police Lieutenant

$43,260 per year; payroll-related fringe benefits; paid sick and personal leave day; life insurance; annual employer contribution of $2,500 for retirement account.

Police Officer

Payroll-related fringe benefits; paid vacation; sick and personal leave days; health and life insurance. Entry rate of pay –– $11.64 per hour; after six months –– $13.13 per hour; after 12 months –– $14.60 per hour; after 18 months –– $15.81 per hour; after 24 months –– $16.74 per hour; after 30 months –– $17.85 per hour.

Police Clerk/Dispatcher

$9.05 to $10.18 per hour; payroll-related fringe benefits; paid sick and personal leave days; paid vacation leave after one year of continuous service; health insurance.

Seasonal Dispatcher

$8.70 to $9.51 per hour; payroll-related fringe benefits.

Traffic Officer

$9.26 to $9.53 per hour; payroll-related fringe benefits.

Fire Chief

$635.72 per year; $17.95 per run responded to and for each additional hour after the first hour; $17.95 for each drill attended.

Assistant Fire Chief

$420.67 per year; $17.95 per run responded to and for each additional hour after the first hour; $17.95 for each drill attended.

Fire Captain

$353.47 per year; $17.95 per run responded to and for each additional hour after the first hour; $17.95 for each drill attended.

Fire Lieutenant

$338.10 per year; $17.95 per run responded to and for each additional hour after the first hour; $17.95 for each drill attended.

Firefighter

$17.95 per run responded to and for each additional hour after the first hour; $17.95 for each drill attended.

Recreation Director

$20,190 per year; payroll-related fringe benefits; paid leave days.

Librarian

$8.83 to $12.40 per hour; payroll-related fringe benefits; health insurance.

Assistant Librarian

City Foreman

Election Board Member

Restroom Attendant
