Ice Bridge to Mainland Sees First Crossing Jan. 18
Brett Horn and Jason St. Onge, both of Mackinac Island, were the first persons to cross Moran Bay from Mackinac Island to St. Ignace with their snowmobiles Tuesday, January 18. The two men reached the St. Ignace shore at 2:41 p.m. The ice bridge is still intact, but has been weakened by warmer temperatures at the end of January. Area law enforcement agencies do not condone crossing the ice bridge owing to safety hazards.
