Judicial Referees Host Conference The Referees Association of Michigan (RAM) will hold its 21st annual training conference Wednesday, May 18, to Friday, May 20, at the Chippewa Hotel on Mackinac Island. Collectively, the Juvenile Court and Domestic Relations referees who comprise the Association preside over 200,000 circuit court family division hearings every year. The conference has been scheduled in May to coincide with Family Division Referee Appreciation Month, a designation awarded by the State Legislature in 2004. Guest speakers will include Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Clifford Taylor, Nancy Diehl, president of the State Bar of Michigan, Dan Wright, director of the Friend of the Court Bureau, and Norman S. Early, the former District Attorney for Denver, Colorado. “This will be an enlightening conference due to the depth of knowledge of our speakers,” said Kenneth Randall, RAM President and Friend of the Court referee for the 42nd Circuit Court in Midland County. “As in years past, RAM will provide the best possible training for the state’s ‘frontline’ judicial officers.”
