Mackinac Straits Hospital Earns Governor’s Award Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace has earned a 2004 Governor’s Award of Excellence for Improving Care, reported Michigan’s Health Care Improvement Organization, MPRO, Monday, May 23. Hospital staff collected quarterly data, reviewed patient outcomes from January 1, 2004, to December 31, 2004, and made appropriate changes to improve patient care, said Rod Nelson, hospital CEO. “We are proud of the advancements being made at Mackinac Straits Hospital and Health Center,” Mr. Nelson said. The hospital staff created and submitted a plan to improve levels of care for selected clinical topics, including pneumonia and patient transfers.
