A Spirit of Service
Church Youth Groups Bring Helping Hands to Island

Lutheran Youth Group Spruces Up Sites
Youth from St. Andrew’s in Memphis got into the spirit of service by shoveling wood chips for the trails at Great Turtle Park. From right, Dylan Stank, Mitch Blount, Chelsey Kling, Alyssa Schneider, Kelsey Baird, and Morgan Bauman were participating in the Michigan District of Lutheran Churches Youth Gathering from Sunday, June 26, through Wednesday, June 29.

William Holton-Snider, Laura Melcher, and Deanna Thivierge were among the group of Episcopalians from St. Thomas Church on hand Friday, June 24, to help at the free employee dinner at Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church. The seven youth and their chaperones assisted in washing dishes, preparing garnishes, and wrapping silverware. According to Mr. Melcher, the most fun was “using the squirty hose to wash the dishes.” Youth also assisted the Tourism Bureau by passing out surveys on boat docks and participated in the Sunday service at Trinity Episcopal Church.
