Committee Tackles City Master Plan at June 29 Meeting At the first meeting of the city’s Master Plan Committee Wednesday, June 29, Mike Hart was elected chairman and Bob Brown was elected vice-chairman. Mr. Hart serves on the Mackinac Island City Council and Mr. Brown is chairman of the Planning Commission. The Committee hopes to hold a public hearing by the end of July to get public ideas about what Mackinac Island should look like in the future. The Committee’s goal is to have a final version of the Master Plan ready for adoption by next spring. “Things are changing,” committee member Mary Dufina said at the meeting. How much of the change is good will be discussed in the months to come. By state law, a master plan must be readopted every five years. The Master Plan Committee will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, July 6, at 2:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers at Community Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
