Today Show Cancels, May Show Footage

NBC’s Today Show, which was originally scheduled to be on Mackinac Island from July 13 to 15, canceled the visit in early July because of a busier than expected summer news season. With Hurricane Dennis, the terrorist attacks in London, the pending launch of the space shuttle Discovery, and other major news events, there has not been time to complete the Today Show series on resort areas.

“We’re a news program, first and foremost,” said spokesperson Lauren Kapp.

The Today Show does plan to do a segment on Mackinac Island “in the near future” and plans to air the footage that was taken several weeks ago on the Island by the Today Show camera crew.
