Sidewalk Prophets To Perform Free Concert

A free concert featuring the Sidewalk Prophets will be held at the Mission Point Resort Theatre Saturday, July 23, at 9 p.m. Dave Frey and Ben McDonald, who started the group, met in college four years ago and created a sound, they say, that favors the acoustic flavor of Counting Crows with the vocal style of Blues Traveler.

Sidewalk Prophets' mission statement is, "Image is nothing, love is everything," a reference to America’s preoccupation with appearance.

The group has performed for many camps and conferences, as well as opening for such acts as Audio Adrenaline, Building 429, Petra, and Jeremy Camp.

The concert is the third in a summer series of four sponsored by the Mackinac Island Bible Church, with the last concert on August 6. The Mackinac Island Puppets of Praise performance team will be opening for the group with a blacklight presentation.
