Pastor of Little Stone Church Publishes Book

The Reverend Dr. Vincent Carroll, pastor of the Little Stone Church.
Reverend Dr. Vincent Carroll, pastor of the Little Stone Church, will be at The Island Book Store to sign copies of his book, “Biblical Characters With An Attitude,” Wednesday, August 3, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“Both Old and New Testament are presented in a rhythmic setting reforming Biblical figures into urban heroes,” said Dr. Carroll. “These traditional characters are for unconventional times.”

The book consists mostly of poems that originally were written for children’s sermons. When his previous southern Michigan congregation heard them, they encouraged him to adapt them to adults, so he did for this book.

“In the spirit of our fast food culture, this one minute rhyming read of our Biblical friends becomes an almost sport-like activity while retaining the value of the message without miring the word of God,” writes Dr. Carroll in the book’s forward.

Prior to coming to Little Stone Church, Dr. Carroll served in the United States Navy as a Chaplain for 27 years. He also was a pastor for parishes in Minnesota, Michigan, and Florida. Dr. Carroll and his wife, Molly, have lived on the Island for two summers.
