Scholarship Fund Seeks Volunteers for August 16

The annual Daisy Day fundraiser to support the Stella King Scholarship Fund will take place Tuesday, August 16, with a raffle, candy and daisy sales, and donation canisters at shops around town.

Daisy Day was originally started many years ago by Mackinac Island lay health nurse Stella King to support the lay health program on Mackinac Island. The program was discontinued after her death, but a fundraiser for her memorial scholarship fund, using the Daisy Day theme, was started by Barb Fisher and Candi Smith four years ago. The scholarship is for students who have been graduated by Mackinac Island Public School.
