Mr. Campbell joined the U.S. Navy, serving 16 years in Special Forces and several years in the Vietnam War. He later worked for Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo and for the Kalamazoo Mission. In 1992, he came to Mackinac Island, where he cooked for the Island House and the Village Inn.

Mr. Campbell is survived by a sister and her family, Judy and Thomas Bailey of Howell, a brother and his family, Thomas and Nancy Campbell of Schoolcraft, and one niece, Jodi Campbell of Schoolcraft.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside services are planned for Sunday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at Mackinac Island Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Vincent Carroll of Little Stone Church officiating.

Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
