Wawashkamo Hosts Tournament

Wawashkamo Golf Club will be hosting its Battle Day Tournament Saturday, August 6. The event is open to members, their guests, Island residents, and employees, and is done in a twoperson scramble format. The annual event is always held on the Saturday closest to the battle date, which took place on the spot of the current golf course August 4, 1812.

The tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shot, when players will begin to play 18 holes. Lunch and awards will follow. Fred “Fritz” George, the golf pro at Wawashkamo, said he expects the tournament to be full by Saturday, July 29. About 20 twoperson teams will be accepted for this year’s tournament.
