Wissam Charafeddine To Speak on Islam at Ste. Anne’s Church Wissam Charafeddine will speak about Islam at Ste. Anne’s Church Sunday, August 7, at 3 p.m., for an Illumination 2005 lecture. Mr. Charafeddine was born in Egypt in 1976 and became an American citizen in 2004. He received a presidential scholarship to Wayne State University, where he finished a minor in English literature and a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering. He is working on a master’s degree in computer engineering at the University of Michigan in Dearborn. Mr. Charafeddine is the president of the executive board and co-founder of the Muslim Scouts of Michigan. He is also founder of Halakat Imam AlBakir and a member of the Islamic House of Wisdom, the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Arab American Antidiscrimination Committee (ADC), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Sierra Club, Muslim Student Association (MSA), Islamic Monitor Action Network (IMAN), the Boy Scouts of America, and the Green Party of Michigan.
