Daisy Days Fundraiser August 16

The annual Daisy Days fundraiser will be held Tuesday, August 16, to benefit Mackinac Island Public School’s Stella King Scholarship Fund.

A raffle will be held at 4 p.m. at Mackinac Island Community Hall. Tickets are $1 each, $5 for six. First prize is a DVD player, second prize is daisy towels, and third, fourth, and fifth prizes are daisy-themed items. Mackinac Island Public School students will also be around town selling candy for a donation.

Stella King was Mackinac Island’s lay health nurse and organized Daisy Days years ago to raise money in support of her programs. Barb Fisher and Candi Smith revived the Daisy Days name four years ago in raising funds to support the scholarship in the late Miss King’s name.

“We don’t want to lose the memory of Stella King and what she did for this community,” Mrs. Smith said.
