NBC Aired Mackinac on West Coast

Footage originally filmed for a segment of NBC’s Today Show on Mackinac Island was seen on the West Coast July 8, but was preempted for broadcast elsewhere by coverage of the July 7 terrorists attacks in London, according to NBC.

The Today Show was scheduled to be on the Island from July 13 through July 15 to broadcast live and tape segments in a series on resort areas.

That visit was canceled, however, owing to what the network called a busier-than-expected summer news season.

The network planned to broadcast the taped footage, anyway, and that is what was shown on the West Coast.
