Jammin’ Raises $4,000 Mackinac Arts Council held its annual “Jammin’ for the Arts” fundraiser Thursday, August 4, at the East Bluff cottage of David and Ann Levy, drawing new and old patrons with music provided by Robert McClory. “We were really happy with the outcome,” said Carrie Kaminen. “It all went very smoothly.” The event raised $4,000. Mackinac Arts Council worked with the Mackinac Island Community Foundation this summer to bring a series of five concerts to the Island. The last one will be Sunday, August 28, when Beaumont Brass performs. For next year, said Mrs. Kaminen, “We’ll continue with the concert series, and we’re also looking to do a poetry series which we’re working with Jim Lenfestey on. We’re looking at doing another music festival and bringing back the art fair, and we would like to start a biweekly lecture series.”
