Grand To Host Golf Benefit

Grand Hotel’s Jewel golf course is set to host the 4th annual benefit golf tournament Thursday, August 25. The tournament will benefit the Mackinac Island Medical Center as well as the Moses Dialysis Unit in St. Ignace. Proceeds will be split evenly between the two medical facilities, and will be used for general operating costs.

The field is full this year, and Shannon Doran of Mackinac Straits Hospital and Health Center said that sponsorships have gone better than any year in the past.

“We filled up by mid-July, which is quite good,” said Ms. Doran. “We’ve seen a lot of support from the Island and also from downstate.”

Golfers will play a full 18 hole tournament, with 9 holes on the Grand Nine and nine on the Woods Nine.

Tee off on Grand Nine will be at 11 a.m., while the Woods Nine will have a tee time of 11:30.

Following the tournament, golfers will enjoy a dinner and awards ceremony at Woods restaurant.

New to the benefit this year will be a putting contest at Woods at 5 p.m.
