Winning Ticket To Be Drawn Sept. 30 in $10,000 Raffle for Bernida Restoration

Tickets are still available for a $10,000 raffle drawing to be held at 6 p.m. Friday, September 30, at Mackinac Island Yacht Club on Mackinac Island to raise funds for restoration of the Bernida , the yacht that won the inaugural Port Huron-to-Mackinac Island Yacht Race in 1928.

This is the first of three raffles this year. A second raffle will be at the Metro Beach In Water Boat Show in Detroit later this year. The final raffle will take place next summer during the Bacardi Bayview Mackinac Race on Mackinac Island.

Only 1,000 tickets will be sold for the first raffle. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at various Island restaurants and taverns, or send $100 to the Mackinac Boating Heritage Foundation (at P.O. Box 1239) for a ticket. Winners are not required to be present at the time of the drawing.

The purchaser of each ticket will also receive a membership in the Mackinac Boating Heritage Club, which includes privileges and discounts to be made available by Mackinac Island merchants.
