Island Visitors, Once Hooked, Return Every Year on Labor Day

“We came here once, and got hooked,” said Rosie Geske.

She and her husband, Neil, come to Mackinac Island over the Labor Day holiday every year. This time, the Wisconsin couple is staying at Lilac Tree Hotel on Main Street.

She said they love the Island and, while she shops or watches people, her husband flies kites.

“I just love to sit and listen to the horses, “ she said. “It is so relaxing.”

Mrs. Geske stopped by the Town Crier office to renew her subscription and said she likes reading Island news. “I wish I could afford to stay long enough to say, ‘OK. I’m ready to go home now,’” she said, but so far, her stays have all been too short.
