Lakers 6-2 Overall on Season
3-1 in Northern Lights League

The Mackinac Island Lakers soccer team is 6-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in the Northern Lights League (NLL) with two league weekend games remaining on their schedule.

The weekend series with NLL teams include the league game Friday afternoon and non-conference game played Saturday morning.

The Lakers swept their last two home league opponents defeating Hannahville 8-0 and 11-1 Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24 and upending Paradise 5-2 and 8-1 Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1.

During the shutout win over the Soaring Eagles of Hannahville, Ben Mosley scored four goals and added two assists, Robert Chambers chipped in two goals and one assist, Caleb Straight notched one goal and one assist, Sam Kamphuis tallied one goal, and Woody Beardsley charted one assist.

Robert Chambers led the Lakers in the win Saturday over Hannahville with three goals and four assists, Ben Mosley added three goals and one assist, Tyler McLean notched three goals, Caleb Straight and Sam Kamphuis chipped in one goal and one assist, and Woody Beardsley recorded one assist.

Ben Mosley (one assist) and Jason Pettit scored two goals each to lead Mackinac Island in the win over the Rockets of Paradise Friday, Robert Chambers added one goal, Tyler McLean chipped in two assists, and Woody Beardsley and Caleb Straight registered one assist each.

Caleb Straight (two assists) and Jason Pettit (one assist) each scored three goals in the win over the Rockets on Saturday morning while Ben Mosley added two goals and three assists, and Kate Dupre and Sam Kamphuis both notched single assists.

Between the pipes has been starter Michael Gamble and Riley Chaffee as the backup goalie.

During the first two weekend series of the season the Lakers lost road games to Beaver Island 6-2 and 4-2 before bouncing back to down Ojibwe/Brimley in a pair of 10-0 road wins.
