Emma Dodds

Emma Reta Dodds of Pickford formerly worked as a clerk on Mackinac Island, as a telephone operator for the former General Telephone Company in Pickford for 10 years, and as a clerk at Pickford Dry Goods for several years before she retired.

Mrs. Dodds was 94 when she died Monday, March 20, 2006, at her daughter's home in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born December 13, 1911, in Pickford to Taylor Henry and Mary Myrtle (nee Smith) Gough.

A lifelong Pickford resident, she married Elmer John Dodds in 1935. She was a member of the Pickford New Horizons

Church of the Nazarene, enjoyed cooking, sewing, attending Senior Citizens Club dinners, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Mrs. Dodds is survived by her daughter and her family, Ann Marie and Richard Gibbons; two grandchildren and their families, Tom and Tammi Gibbons and Heidi Gibbons; three great-grandchildren, Grace and Olivia Schopp and Tyler Gibbons all of Sault Ste. Marie, and one sister and her family, Gladys and Lewis Anderson of New Port Richie, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer May 20, 1972, and by six brothers, Jack, Bernard, William, Irvin, Burton, and Herman Gough.

Visitation was Thursday, March 23, and Friday, March 24 at New Horizons Church of the Nazarene in Pickford.

Services were Friday, March 24, at New Horizons Church of the Nazarene. The Reverend Craig Weihman officiated.

Burial was at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
