Classical Concert Is Sunday

Tess Miller, Melissa Straus, Dessislava Nenova, and Lauren Kruse will perform Sunday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at Ste. Anne's Church.

The concert and presentation is entitled, "Musical Informance: The Classical Era and You," which will feature music by Hoffmeister, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and Rossini. These composers are ones the performers feelwere integral to the classical era of music.

Ms. Nenova is a native of Bulgaria and a doctoral student at Michigan State University. She is a member of the London Trio and holds positions in both the Lansing and Flint symphony orchestras.

Ms. Kruse is from Holland, Michigan, and a doctoral student at Michigan State University. She was graduated from Hope College in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in performance viola.

Dr. Miller is a flutist and a member of the London Trio. She received her doctoral degree in music from Michigan State University in 2004. Dr. Miller spends summers in Trillium Heights on Mackinac Island.

Dr. Straus plays double bass with the Lansing and Grand Rapids symphonies and teaches at Alma College.

She received her doctoral degree in 2003 from Michigan State University. Dr. Straus spends summers in the Annex on Mackinac Island.

This is the fourth of seven concerts in the 2006 Summer Concert Series, which is sponsored by the Mackinac Island Community Foundation.

The concert is free and open to the public.
