Island Runners Cross Bridge

Bruce Miller of Trillium Heights, along with the son-in-law of Karen and Gary Lennard of Stonebrooke, joined Governor Jennifer Granholm on the run across the Mackinac Bridge Labor Day.

Mr. Miller and Christopher Warren of Hillsdale hopped on the 5 a.m. Arnold ferry to St. Ignace with the Governor. The run began 15 minutes before the 49th Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk began. The two men were part of a group of 300 joggers pre-selected by the governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Sports.

Mrs. Lennard, who is the Mackinac Island City Clerk, said Mr. Warren finished the five-mile run in approximately 36 minutes. Mr. Miller could not be reached before the paper went to press.
