Two Island Hotels Make Top 500

Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel and Hotel Iroquois on the Beach have been listed by travel magazines among the best hotels in the world.

Both made Travel and Leisure magazine’s top 500 hotels and resorts list, Grand Hotel earning a rating of 81.70 out of 100 and Iroquois Hotel scoring 81.32.

Condé Nast Traveler magazine, which annually rates the top resorts and hotels around the world, named Hotel Iroquois to its 12th annual Gold List, rated from opinions of 28,000 subscribers and more than 400 hours of interviewing people about establishments. It is the fourth time Hotel Iroquois has made the magazine’s list; it was listed in 1997, 2000, and 2004. The hotel scored an overall rating of 83 out of 100. It was also given the “Top 100 Best in the World Readers’ Choice Award” in 2004.

Hotel Iroquois, owned by the McIntire family since 1954, and Birmingham’s Townsend Hotel, were the only two Michigan hotels recognized by Condé Nast Traveler.
