Eulogy Frances Bachman Smith
By Jeannette Doud

We mourn the loss of our very dear friend, Frances Bachman Smith, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mackinac Island. She was a lovely lady, who loved the Island and spent many happy summers at the family cottage on the East Bluff. In the early days, along with her son, Ron, she would stay at the Windermere Hotel, where she enjoyed many visits with my late husband, Robert. They would reminisce about the olden days on Mackinac.

Mrs. Smith was a beautiful knitter, making exquisite baby outfits with tiny pearl buttons adorning the wee sweaters. Many were sold at silent auctions benefiting Island charities. I was the recipient of much of her work, which I happily gave as special gifts to newborn babies of Mackinac.

I shall cherish the memory of Reverend Ron's mother, who brought such joy, happiness, and peace to the many she met during her lifetime. May she rest in peace in the spring on her favorite Island. Deepest sympathy to the family from Island friends.
