Mayor Doud Makes Annual Appointments

Mayor Margaret Doud announced her annual appointments at a meeting of the Mackinac Island City Council Monday, May 8. New this year, she appointed two ambulance representatives, Pamela Lach and Sam Barnwell, who will be contact people for the City and represent the Island ambulance corps at meetings. Council also approved Armand "Smi" Horn as Mayor Pro Tempore.

Public Safety Committee: Armand Horn, Jason St. Onge, and Mike Hart.

Ordinances and Licenses Committee: Mike Hart, Armin Porter, and Armand Horn.

Finance, Claims, Taxes, and Insurance Committee: Mike Hart, Jason St. Onge, and Armand Horn.

Airport and Transportation Committee: Dan Wightman, Frank Bloswick Jr., and Armin Porter.

Medical, Fly Control, and Public Health Committee: Dan Wightman, Mike Hart, and Armin Porter.

Lighting, Public Grounds, and Buildings Committee: Armand Horn, Dan Wightman, and Frank Bloswick Jr.

New City and Fire Hall, and Housing Committee: Frank Bloswick Jr., Jason St. Onge, Armand Horn.

Streets and Sidewalks Committee: Armand Horn, Jason St. Onge, and Armin Porter.

Compost and Solid Waste Committee: Frank Bloswick Jr., Dan Wightman, and Armin Porter.

Chamber of Commerce and Island Activities, Lilac Day, and Fourth of July: Armin Porter, Dan Wightman, and Frank Bloswick Jr.

City Administration: William Lenaghan, city marshall; Calvin Horn, city foreman; Dennis Dombroski, building inspector and zoning administrator; Tom Evashevski, city attorney; and Kelly Bean, mayor's assistant.

Fire Department: Dennis Bradley, fire chief; Mike Bradley, assistant; Dan Wightman, captain; Armin Porter, lieutenant.

Cemetery Board: Dale Gallagher for five years, Armand Horn for four years, Kathi Wightman for three years, Clayton Timmons for two years, and Ed Chambers for one year. Kathi Wightman replaces her mother-in-law, Esther Wightman, who died November 7, 2005.

Board of Public Works: James Pettit for five years, C. Ronald Dufina for four years, Barry BeDour for three years, Vic Callewaert for two years, and F. Thomas Lewand for one year.

Planning Commission: Lee Finkel, Patricia Martin, and Franc Doud for three years, Kathleen Hoppenrath, Mary McCourt-Dufina, and Robert Brown for two years, and Margaret Horn, James Pettit, and Bruce Lapine for one year.

Librarian: Anne St. Onge.

Library Board: Kathleen Hoppenrath for five years, Amelia Musser for four years, Clayton Timmons for three years, Margaret McIntire for two years, and Kathi Wightman for one year.

Construction Board of Appeals: James Granger, Gary Urman, and Dean Baker.

Traffic Control Advisory Panel: Frank Bloswick Jr., for five years, Robert Brown for four years, Bill Chambers for three years, Jason St. Onge for two years, and Armand Horn for one year.

Board of Recreation: Armand Horn and Paul Wandrie for three years, and Mike Gamble for two years, Mike Hart and Barb Fisher for one year.

Mayor's Advisory Committee: Betty BeDour, Dennis Bradley, Jodi Chambers, Franc Doud, Tim Leeper, Rosemary Lounsbury, Ben Mosley, Lorna Straus, Clayton Timmons, and Kathi Wightman.

Mackinac Island Building Authority: Secretary Bruce Zimmerman for two years, Treasurer Dennis Bradley Sr., for one year, and Chairman Tom Evashevski for three years.
