Island Observes Memorial Day at 4 Venues

Mackinac Island will join the rest of the country in celebrating Memorial Day Monday, May 29, with the following events: Memorial Sunday Service Trinity Episcopal Church

A special Memorial Day service will be held Sunday, May 28, at Trinity Episcopal Church at 10:30 a.m., and will celebrate the memory of many Island friends with special hymns and the reading of names. All are welcome to participate. Memorial Sunday Service

Little Stone Church

Little Stone Church will hold a special celebration for Memorial Day on Sunday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m., as a celebration of all military veterans. A wreath will be placed in honor of all who have served. Everyone is welcome.

Fort Mackinac

March to Post Cemetary

Mackinac State Historic Parks will perform a tribute to soldiers who served at Fort Mackinac on Monday, May 29, 8:30 a.m. There will be a march to the Post Cemetery from Fort Mackinac, where soldiers will perform a short ceremony and salute. The public is welcome to participate.

American Legion Post 299

There will be a brief Memorial Day observance at Veterans Memorial Park by the Mackinac Island Post of the American Legion at 11 a.m. Speakers will include Mayor Margaret Doud and Post Commander Paul Wandrie, and at noon the flag will be raised to full-staff.

Flowers for the Memorial Day program are being provided by Delbert Bunker.
