Beardsley, Chambers Qualify for Upper Peninsula Finals

Sophomore Woody Beardsley and freshman Robert Chambers continued the success of Mackinac Island athletes qualifying for the Upper Peninsula track finals during the Division 3 regionals Friday, May 19, at Pickford.

Beardsley finished third in the discus with a throw of 110'4" and Chambers placed fourth in the 200meter dash with a time of 25.58, just eight-tenths of a second off the second place time.

They will compete in the finals Saturday, June 3, at Kingsford.

The Lakers are the smallest school in the Upper Peninsula that fields a track team and each year at least one athlete qualifies for the U.P. Finals. Sarah Dehring is the coach.
