Island Featured on Weather Channel
Jorma Duran of The Weather Channel broadcasts live on June 21 from the front porch of Grand Hotel. He is being filmed by photojournalist Brad Reynolds as part of a Weather Channel special featuring the first day of summer in different areas around the country. Reporters for the same segment were also stationed at Death Valley, California, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Mr. Duran had been on the Island with a crew for two days prior to the broadcast, filming footage of downtown and holding interviews with several Islanders, including Phil Porter, director of Mackinac State Historic Parks, and Grand Hotel President Dan Musser III. Segments were broadcast throughout the day.
