Indian Uprise Author To Sign Books July 1-2

Dr. Todd Harburn's new book, "A Most Troublesome Situation The British Military and the Pontiac Indian Uprising of 17631764" gives readers the perspective of the British army officers.
Dr. Todd Harburn, who coauthored with Timothy Todish, "A Most Troublesome Situation - The British Military and the Pontiac Indian Uprising of 1763 1764," will sign books July 1 and 2 at The Island Bookstore on Mackinac Island and in Mackinaw City.

The narrative is told from the perspective of the British army officers involved with the uprising of the Ottawa war chief, Pontiac.

"Our book features many Mackinac State Historic Park illustrations, also provides some new scholarly researched information about British military troops and operations during the uprising, many primary accounts, and features two rare and previously unpublished original portraits of important British officers involved during the conflict, Captain James Dalyell and Colonel John Bradstreet," said Dr. Harburn.

Mr. Todish of Grand Rapids was graduated from Michigan State University and is an independent historical consultant and writer. He provided background information for the 1992 film, "The Last of the Mohicans," and has published five other books relating to the French and Indian War and the Alamo.

Dr. Harburn of Okemos and Mackinaw City was graduated from Hope College and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is an orthopedic surgeon and the football team physician for Hope College. He wrote the biography of Captain George Etherington, has co-authored two books on college football history, and he has served as a consultant for the History Channel. Also, he has portrayed Captain Etherington in the annual Fort Michilimackinac Pageant in Mackinaw City.

Dr. Harburn will be at The Mackinac Island Bookstore in Mackinaw City, Saturday, July 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and at the store's Main Street location on Mackinac Island, Sunday, July 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The book's forward was written by Mackinac Island summer resident Brian Dunningan and the book is dedicated to Dr. David Armour, retired deputy director of Mackinac State Historic Parks.
