Bayview Brass To Play at Little Stone Church July 2

Musicians from the Bayview Association's summer music program will be on Mackinac Island this weekend and next for concerts at Little Stone Church. The Bayview Brass Ensemble will perform at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, July 2, and Sunday, July 9.

Also on July 9, Bayview Brass will join John Craig Barker on clarinet and Anthony Patterson on piano for a 2 p.m. concert at the church. Featured will be the music of Gershwin, Bernstein, Finzi, and Saint-Saens.

Tickets are $10.

Mr. Barker is principal clarinetist with the West Valley Symphony, as well as clarinetist with Quintessence Chamber Ensemble. He is also

on the faculty of the Bay View Music Festival, where he has taught and performed for the last five summers.

Mr. Patterson began to study piano at the age of three and made his debut with the Lima Symphony at age eight. He joined the Bay View Music Festival faculty in 1986 and, since 1995, has been on the faculty at Alma College, where he is instructor of music and dance and choir accompanist.

Members of Bay View Brass teach individual brass students and coach chamber music at the Bay View Music Festival and perform chamber music at northern Michigan venues during summers. They are all accomplished solo artists.
