Reports from the Mackinac Island Police Department from June 1 to June 26:

Forty-six bicycle larcenies and two false alarms were reported between Thursday, June 1, and Monday, June 26. Eight citations for minor in possession of alcohol were also written during that time. A woman was reportedly raped near Marquette Park Sunday, June 18, but police say she has not yet filed a complaint.

A 28-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina, man was arrested for unlawful entry and unlawfully driving away a bicycle at 8 a.m. Sunday, June 25. Police responded to a call from a resident of Stonebrooke Northgate on Pine Lane after he discovered an unknown man sleeping on his couch. At first, the resident thought it was his son, however, when his son came out of his room an hour later, the man immediately called police. When police arrived, the intruder was awakened and asked where he was and responded he thought he was in his Sunset Condominium apartment. He was then taken into custody.

A 51-year-old Detroit man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was found by police sleeping on West Trail near Park Drive at 3:25 a.m. Monday, June 26. Police found him earlier that day passed out near the Father Marquette statue in Marquette Park. The man was reportedly intoxicated, and fell asleep in the police vehicle while being driven to the police department.

A 21-year-old man from Poland was arrested for unlawful entry after he was found by a West Bluff resident to be sleeping in his horse barn at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25. The man was sleeping on a bench and covered with a blanket when police arrived. After he was awakened, the man told police he thought he was at Grand Hotel. He was escorted by police to the police department.

A 31-year-old Narragansett, Rhode Island, man was arrested for assault and battery after punching a 24-year-old Ocala man during a fight at the Arnold Dock at 2:10 a.m. Saturday, June 24. Police used pepper spray on the man to break up the fight and then arrested him.

Police arrested two men for disorderly conduct Saturday evening, June 24, after they were caught carrying a flower basket near the U.S. Post Office on Market Street. One man was found to have a warrant for his arrest for a prior charge of simple assault. Police noticed dirt and a broken hanging wire near where the men were stopped. Both men are 26 years old and were reported to be intoxicated. They also were in possession of two glasses with a restaurant logo on them. The flower basket owner did not press charges but did ask to be compensated $55 for the basket and flowers.

Police arrested a 25-year-old Traverse City man who was working at an Island hotel on a Traverse City warrant for obstructing justice. He was turned over to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Department for transport back to Traverse City.A

26-year-old East Greenwich, Rhode Island, man was issued a civil citation for disorderly person at 3:05 a.m. Friday morning, June 16, when police caught him on Main Street, near Marquette Park, with possession of an open bottle of beer. When approached, the man tried to hide it, however, police retrieved the bottle and poured the contents out.

Six businesses on Main Street and Market Street were warned by police and given copies of the city's Solid Waste Ordinance after a dray driver from Mackinac Island Service Company complained the businesses

were putting their bags of trash out too early Friday afternoon, June 16. Trash bags are not to be put out on the sidewalks or in front of buildings until 4 p.m.

Police officially informed a 24-year-old Traverse City man Tuesday, June 13, that he is not to be on the premises of his former housing unit. His former employer, a restaurant owner, filed a trespass notice with police after the man was warned repeatedly by her to not return to the housing units.

A Hessel man was arrested for burglary and assault Tuesday, June 13, after he reportedly broke into a Harrisonville home on Cadotte Avenue and punched the resident the day before. The resident said it was the third incident. The intruder was reportedly upset about his ex-girlfriend.

Police were called to the Mackinac Island Marina at 2:07 a.m. Sunday, June 11, on a noise complaint when a 62-year-old Ann Arbor man was running a generator to power his docked boat. He told police the electrical system at the slip was down. The officer helped the man connect power to the dock's electrical system from another outlet. No citation was issued.

A 26-year-old Norway man was arrested for third degree retail fraud for stealing a bottle of wine from Doud Mercantile at 11 p.m. Monday, June 5. A store employee noticed the man taking a bottle of wine and walking out without paying. Police found the man near the Island House and positively identified him as the culprit. The bottle of wine, which cost $32.63, was found on the ground in Marquette Park.

A 26-year-old St. Ignace man was arrested Sunday, June 4, for domestic assault and interfering with a emergency 91-1 phone call. A 23-year-old woman, his ex-girlfriend, reported to police that her exboyfriend, who had reportedly been drinking at the time, threatened and assaulted her that night near the Mackinac Island marina. She told police she was walking with him and he became angry after she told him she was dating someone. She told police the man shoved her, threw his phone at her, breaking it, and then broke her phone when she tried calling 91-1. She said he called her derogatory names and threatened her, then ran off once she started screaming. Police apprehended the man later that night on Main Street. Police reported the man's two brothers confronted and yelled at the woman and her brother, who was accompanying her, the next day on the street.

Police found a 25-year-old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, woman sleeping in a bush in Marquette Park at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 1, after a pedestrian informed police he saw a woman "acting drunk" near the park. When police woke the woman up, she told them she has been drinking on a boat earlier. The woman was ordered to leave the park. No citation was issued.
