Cemetery Fees To Increase Aug. 1

Cemetery fees on Mackinac Island will increase August 1, from $200 to $300 for resident right of burial and from $1,500 to $1,700 for non-resident right of burial. A perpetual care fee is $300.

At the Cemetery Board meeting Thursday, July 13, additional plots to the Murray lot were approved, which will square off the lot.

Lin Sheppard was permitted to purchase a grave marker for Polly Packard, which is currently unmarked.

A lot purchased by Matt and Anneke Myers was approved, pending city confirmation that there is enough room at the requested location.

Stone designs submitted by Lynn Marsack were approved, as long as there is gray lettering on the black stone, rather than white.

The next meeting of the Cemetery Board will be Thursday, July 27, at 8:30 a.m. in the small conference room on the second floor of Community Hall.
