Roger Humphrey To Perform Spanish Guitar Music Sunday Roger Humphrey will be performing Spanish guitar music Sunday, August 13, at Ste. Anne's Church at 2 p.m. Mr. Humphrey has been playing guitar since 1958 at the age of 10 and has been teaching guitar since 1967. He is on the faculty at both Olivet and Alma College and has given private lessons at Marshall Music in Lansing for more than 25 years. He also has written several guitar method books, scored several award-winning documentaries, and recorded two CDs. At Ste. Anne's, he will perform works written between the 1500s to the early 1900s by Luys Milan, Louis de Narvaez, Gaspar Sanz, Anton Diabelli, Erik Satie, and Issac Albeniz, including Sanz' Spanish Dances and Diabelli's Sonata in C Major. His performance will be the sixth of seven classical concerts this summer presented by the Mackinac Island Community Foundation. It is free and the public is welcome. |
