Over $3,000 Raised at Gallagher Golf Open For Scholarship Fund

The 4th Annual Mark Gallagher Golf Open was held Saturday, August 12. The twoman scramble was held on the Calloway System at Wawashkamo Golf Club and raised $3,130 for the Mark Gallagher Scholarship Fund through the Mackinac Island Community Foundation.

The scholarship is awarded each year to a Mackinac Island Public School student who wants to pursue a career in law enforcement, crimnal justice, or another type of service to the Mackinac Island community. Taking first place with a score

of 34 were Cub Horn and Brian Lents. Second place were Justin Lents and Rusty Preston, and third place were Bob St. Onge and Tim Lee.

For the men, Brad Chambers was closest to the pin on hole four, Jimbo Musick had the longest drive, and Bill Andress had the longest putt on hole nine. For women, Sara Sutherland was closest to the pin on hole eight, Jennifer Bloswick had the longest drive, Sue Chambers had the longest putt on hole one, and Stephanie Jenkins was closest to the pole on hole three.
