Airbrush Tattoos, Furniture Available at New Ink 'n' Logs

Dane Billingsley of Ink 'n' Logs airbrushes a non-permanent dragon tattoo on the arm of Jake Hackmer of Sterling Heights.
Ink 'n' Logs, a new Island business this season, is a unique combination of two different things, airbrushed tattoos and rustic log furniture. Owner Eddie Renner of Chicago, who also owns and operates the caricature booth in the Lilac Tree Hotel Shops, said that he also considered the name "Punk and Posh," but settled on Ink 'n' Logs as a play on "Lincoln Logs."

"It was a fun pun," he said.

The shop provides airbrush tattoos, which are temporarily inked onto skin and may be chosen in a variety of patterns and designs. The other half of the store features rustic log and home decor, as well as accessories for home interiors. The furniture is handmade by his brother-in-law, Jonathan Schulz of Cheboygan, who works with Rivertown Rustics, a custom woodworking business.

Mr. Renner has been on Mackinac Island during the summers since the 1980s, when he started working at the caricature booth.

"It's something I just kind of fell into," he said. "It's so much fun."
