Island Italian Families Host Traditional Feast
won at last year's Medical Center benefit auction for $6,000 by Mike Bacon, was enjoyed by the doctor and his friends Sunday, August 6, at Fort Mackinac's Sergeant's Quarters. The chefs were also the servers and wore matching uniforms and aprons designed by Will Porter, which were also placed in the gift baskets received by each guest.

The dinner included hors d'oeuvres of cocktail shrimp and grilled proscuitto-wrapped nectarines, followed by a salad course, prepared by the Brandonisios, homemade pasta with Italian sausage and hard-boiled eggs by the Spatas, osso bucco, polenta, and a lemon ricotta torte by the Pelleritos,
and a variety of breads baked by the Porters. A selection of wines, including prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine, was also served.
