Hickory Sticks In Play August 18 at Wawashkamo

Eighteen players participated in the Hickory Stick Shootout Friday, August 18, at Wawashkamo Golf Club, with two groups of 14 playing holes 1, 5, 6, and 9. Eight players were eliminated on the first hole, two on the second hole, two on the third hole, and one on the last hole, leaving Ron Morden to beat Randy Stuck in the shootout. They were followed in the event by Ron Dufina and Ron Steensma.

The Shootout was followed by a cookout, with beverages donated by Ron Dufina.

The Hickory Stick Tournament Saturday, August 19, attracted 41 players. The results, with net score in parentheses, follow. First place (124), Doug Rearick, Randy Stuck, Bob Benser, Ron Steensma, and Sonny Chappie. Second Place (125), Mark Bunker, Clay Fuller, Cub Horn, Al Arbib, and John Manikoff. Third place (132), Rus Sager, Mike Robbins, Chuck Schafer, Doug Horne, and Mike Bacon. For the men, Mark Bunker had low gross (75), followed by Randy Stuck (79), and Sonny Chappie had low net (66), followed by Dale Rahn (68). For women, Cathy Chappie had low gross (108), followed by Sherry Mitchell (110), and Judy Robinson had low net (85), followed by Cindy Leaman (97).

Closest to the pin contests were won by Todd Jensen, Mark Bunker, and Cathy Chappie, and the longest puts were taken by Marty Gillispie and Sherry Mitchell.
