Postcards From Buster' Footage on Island To Air Dec. 4 Last winter, a crew from the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) came to Mackinac Island to shoot footage for a future episode of "Postcards From Buster." The episode is slated to air Saturday, December 4, and can be seen on CMU Public Television, WCMU Channel 14 at Mt. Pleasant. In the episode based on the Island, which is the second episode of season two, "The Mitten of Mackinac Island," Buster visits his father's favorite childhood vacation spot. His expectations are thwarted, however, when he visits in the middle of winter, finding the Island nearly empty. Buster meets some of the Island school children, whose favorite activity is creating short films, and he gives them a hand producing a comedy about a ghost mitten that haunts the Island. On his trip to the Straits area, Buster also visited a oneroom school house on Bois Blanc Island. Island students filmed for the show include Lou Clark, Jacob Chambers, Colton Fisher, Tymon Horn, Kyra Kolatski, Dana Roguska, Jeff Roguska, and Scott Roguska. Island locations included in the filming of the episode were Windermere Point, Arnold Dock, Main Street, British Landing, and Fort Holmes. "Producers selected Mackinac Island because they were interested in doing something in the Upper Peninsula region," said Mary Beth LeFaivre, a publicist for PBS Boston, WGBH. She noted that in season one, Buster traveled to regions all around North America. On Monday, November 27, "Postcards From Buster" will move into its second season on PBS KIDS GO!, an educational, multimedia destination geared toward children in early elementary school. It airs weekdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends. "Postcards From Buster" is a half-hour children's series and spinoff of the popular PBS KIDS GO! Emmy-award winning animated series, "Arthur," based on the books my Marc Brown, who is the executive producer for "Postcards From Buster" and the executive creative producer for "Arthur." "Postcards From Buster" is a animated series, combined with live-action, first-person documentary footage. In each episode, Buster travels to a new location in North America, teaching children about "diversity and cultural appreciation" said Ms. LeFaivre. |
