Murder, Mutiny, Mayhem at Fort Mackinac September 15 An evening of Mackinac mystery awaits the first 25 people who sign up for "Murder, Mutiny & Mayhem at Mackinac" scheduled for Friday, September 15 at 8 p.m. Phil Porter, director of Mackinac State Historic Parks, will lead a walking tour of Fort Mackinac that focuses on the dark history of this military installation. Topics on the tour include a mysterious skull found in the Guardhouse in the 1930s, the story of the sadistic Lieutenant Ephriam Smith and the Christmas Day mutiny he inspired, and the untimely death of Corporal Hugh Finn and the eventual execution of his murderer. Visitors will have a chance to experience several ghosts who are said to inhabit the fort, including the wandering chaplain's wife at the Hill Quarters and the bereaved widow who was once matron of the Post Hospital. Following the event, the dessert, Death by Chocolate, will be served in the Fort Tea Room.
