Alice Myron Honored for Service on Lighthouse Board

Alice Myron (center) receives a commemorative poster of the Round Island Lighthouse for her many years of service on the board of Save the Round Island Lighthouse, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and maintaining the old lighthouse across the channel from Mackinac. With her are tresurer Tom Pfeifflemann and pastpresident Marsha Haines. The presentation was made at the group's annual meeting September 18 in Mackinaw City. Also serving on the board are Wesley Maurer, Jr., president, Phil Porter, secretary, and Frank Pompa. Working with the U.S Forest Service, which owns the lighthouse, the group saved it from destruction in the 1970s.
