For the Record...

Responding to a Halloween story on Page One of the October issue, Lois and John Findley, owners of Small Point Cottage on Mackinac Island, said their bed and breakfast is not haunted and never has been, contrary to the article.

Mr. Findley said any apparition tales of a little girl or a man roaming the cottage is false.

Small Point Cottage was built by Island builder Robert Doud in 1882. It was the sister house of Cedar Point Cottage, which stood where Mission Point Resort stands today.

The Findleys, former teachers at Mackinac Island Public School, have owned the building since 1973.
